Purpose
This policy establishes guidelines for the acceptance of charitable gifts to ensure that all contributions align with our mission, legal obligations, and ethical standards.
1General Principles
We accept gifts that:
- Support our charitable purpose
- Strengthen maternal and child health outcomes
- Align with our values and strategic objectives
- Comply with applicable laws and regulations
We reserve the right to decline any gift that:
- Creates reputational risk
- Imposes unreasonable restrictions
- Conflicts with our mission
- Requires actions inconsistent with ethical standards
2Types of Gifts Accepted
We may accept:
- Cash donations
- Checks and bank transfers
- Online payments
- Corporate sponsorships
- Grants
- In-kind donations (equipment, supplies, services)
- Legacy gifts or bequests
All non-cash gifts are subject to review for suitability and operational feasibility.
3Restricted Gifts
Donors may designate gifts for specific purposes consistent with our mission.
If a restricted gift becomes impractical or impossible to fulfill, the Board reserves the right to redirect funds to a closely aligned purpose.
4Valuation and Acknowledgment
- Donors are responsible for obtaining independent tax advice.
- We will acknowledge all donations in writing.
- We do not provide valuation of non-cash gifts for tax purposes.
5Conflicts of Interest
Any potential conflict related to a donation must be disclosed and reviewed in accordance with our Conflict of Interest Policy.
